  • Meat, in its broadest sense, is best described as an animal product for human consumption


    Both animal flesh and animal organs (offal) can be consumed by humans. Some meat can be eaten raw but in most circumstances it is prepared and cooked.

    Now universally farmed, as a result of the domestication of animals, commonly available types of meat include poultry, pork, goat, lamb and mutton, as well as veal and beef.

    All meat contains complete, high quality proteins, vitamins, minerals, water and fat.

    Because it contains high levels of vitamins and minerals, which are needed for proper body functioning, it is considered part of a healthy diet, helping with the maintenance of overall well being and the repair of damaged body tissues.
