  • An accommodation establishment is an establishment that provides temporary lodging for travelling guests.

Accommodation is normally a room, suite or unit. Accommodation establishments cover everything from hotels to lodges, guest houses, youth hostels, holiday villages and camping sites. However, the overall classification is broken down into two basic types; formal accommodation and guest accommodation.

  • Franchises in the accommodation sector

To reiterate, a franchise can be defined as the right to use the brand and business model of a certain parent company for a specific period of time. It is a method of expanding a business and distributing products and services through licensed agreements. The Franchisor is the company who gives (sells) a license to a third party, allowing them to conduct business using the franchisor's brand/trademark etc. The franchisee can be described as the party which uses the license of the franchisor to conduct business transactions under his trade name. In the hospitality industry, a Hotel Franchisee uses the franchisors knowledge in every aspect of the business from recruitment, training, supply chain networks and business administration all the way to finding, fitting and decorating whole hotels.
