How does Obami's pricing model work?

Use of the Obami platform - and all its features and updates - is free for up to 3 users, allowing the primary admin (and two others) to gauge how well suited the platform is for your organisation’s L&D needs. Beyond this, a fee is charged for each bundle of users that a learning community creates (we offer discounts in tiers – check out our pricing)

What is a bundle of users?

A “bundle of users” is essentially a number of user accounts (or account credits, like tokens and emails) that have access to the platform for a specified period of time. Access periods range from one month to ongoing annual subscriptions. Bundles can run simultaneously with one another.

    What are Obami's prices?

The amount charged per account is dependent on the number of accounts purchased, along with the duration for which the accounts are needed. The more accounts created, and the longer the subscription period, he lower the unit price of each account becomes.

View our pricing calculator here to get an idea of how much your specific requirements will cost.

Does Obami offer discounts and/or other any other specials?

Obami offers special prices in special cases. Discounts and special prices are discretionary. Contact us to discuss your unique, innovative or socially impactful project and we’ll see what we can do. Remember. Be special.

How can I pay for the accounts that I create?

Obami provides a couple of options when it comes to paying for user accounts. Payfast and PayPal are our formally integrated payment merchants, facilitating secure, online payment with a credit or debit card, or Bitcoin. We also accept payment made directly into Obami’s bank account via EFT (the details of which are available on the invoice that is generated when purchasing accounts).

What currency does Obami charge in?

Obami currently quotes and charges all pricing and VAT in South African Rands (ZAR). GBP, USD coming soon...

Can my audience sign themselves up?

Registered learning communities have the option of allowing members of their audience to sign themselves up - as opposed to creating accounts on their behalf. This can be done through the creation of tokens (i.e. 4-digit codes that can be shared amongst a trusted audience) or email credits (which allows anyone with an email address to join). In both instances, Obami requires that payment for these accounts is made in advance (unless costs are passed on to the user… see below).

Can I pass costs on to my users?

Yes. In order to pass costs on to the users themselves, administrators can create a public facing, paywall-enabled portal. Paywall portals are listed within an organisation’s online learning store (offered on the platform) – they accommodate self-sign up with integrated billing, branded for your organisation.

As portal sales are made, and user accounts created, Obami keeps track of and pays out any funds received (less the cost of each account) on a monthly basis.

Can I terminate and get a refund for user accounts that have not yet expired?

Any accounts and account credits purchased via the Obami platform are associated with a start and end date. These dates mark the access period for each user. In the event that a user needs to have their access revoked prior to their access period ending, the organisation administrator can “archive” the account (which will prevent the user from logging in in future). Refunds are not granted for archived accounts.

    Can I pause user access?

Administrators are able to “archive” accounts within their community. This will revoke access for those users until they are “un-archived” by the administrator – essentially pausing user access for this period, but not for the ongoing paid-for-period.

Once the end date associated with a users’ access period has passed, the account expires and the system revokes access. The account will remain expired until it is renewed.

Will I lose my platform settings and content if I have no active accounts?

No. Your learning community’s settings and content will remain on the platform (at no cost) forever… (or until you remove it).
